Well I'm back from Seattle. Wow that trip kicked my butt- literally! By the time that we headed home, every pair of pants I brought with me was loose! I don't officially weigh in until Sunday morning, but even if my weight loss doesn't show on the scale, I'm happy that I stayed on my diet 95% of the time. My only minor goofs were a little more fruit than usual, and a few times that I accidentaly swallowed something with sugar in it.
The whole experience was amazingly easy- our hotel room had a fridge and walking acess to 2 grocery stores. Metropoilitan market - oh wow! They had the most amazing breakfast bar, making a low carb breakfast a snap.
Then there's Pike Place - Went there on our second day and picked up the biggest shrimp I had ever seen in my life! Added to that a pint of strawberries and tomatoes and curds from Beecher's cheese and it made a perfect, if a bit expensive lunch.
As Hubby went on his record store shopping, I'd dissapear and hit the gourmet shops- While he was at Bop Street Records, I stumbled into this place still opening up http://savourspecialtyfoods.com/menu/ Met the really nice owners, and personally I think their coppa beat any of the varieties I brought home from the legendary Salumi, a deli owned by Mario Batali's father. It was fantastic on a spinach salad with those pike place tomatoes!
Well there's the food part of it. And did we ever burn those calories off! The entire city is one steep hill after another, and we went EVERYWHERE, much of it on foot! We even hiked a mile in and out from the bus line before exploring the Washington Park Arboretum- feeding the huge Koi and cute turtles made the hike worth it.
