This one is for all the people that hate "fatties" out there. I'll probbably post vents like this from time to time, so bear with me.There are things I understand, and things I don't so i'm going to try to take on the issues one at a time.
1. Fat people in small spaces - ok, this I completely understand. I definitely try not to crowd anyone in elevators, buses, etc. Most of the time i'd rather be on my bike. I hate it when someone's in my personal space too.
2. Fat people cost the healthcare system money because of all the health problems realted to weight- uh, can you say AGING POPULATION?? BABY BOOMERS??
On this note, somehow everyone in above "healthy" BMI range from overweight to super-morbidly obese gets all lumped into the same category when this subject comes up. I've even heard tiny Jennifer Love Hewitt ( a size 2) get called fat, so it's obvious this is not true. A lot of haters seem to think it's inevitable that the "fat" person they see is a destined for bed-bound obesity, rascal scooters, etc. That's ridiculous. I'm a very big girl and I do distance bicycle rides - like 70 miles! I won't claim I have perfect health, 16 lbs ago I had sleep apnea 2-3 times a night. I haven't had it in 2 weeks!
3. Fat people are the reason sugar free, diet, fat free products exist: As much as I'd looove to take the credit, not true.
Some people were born diabetics ,some people want to avoid cavities, and some people just don't like the feeling of the sugar highs/lows. I personally LIKE diet soda- regular soda is too sweet for me. Fat free stuff? Yuck! I agree, that stuff is nasty and usually full of chemicals. Ever actually looked at the calories on fat free cookies, cakes, and snacks? It's a bigger scam than the Nigerian lottery!
Seriously: If you think you hate fat people, I'm WORKING ON IT! I will never be a size 0, I just want to get into a healthy BMI range, waist measurement and body fat percentage. What's more, I am doing this by eating a LOT of fat! That means that I am the person that orders a bunless double guacemole cheeseburger and diet drink , or the salad with cheese and ranch dressing, bacon, sunflower seeds (but no crutons!)
Guess what? It actually works! I'm losing a consistent 2 lbs a week.
So haters, take a hike. It may actually make you feel better.
